WDM Lex Advisory, the legal services arm of WDM International, is delighted to announce that as of the 1st of September 2015, WDM Lex Advisory, has become the exclusive Malta representative office of Cathay Associates.

Cathay Associates (“柯杰全球法律联盟” in Chinese) is a global legal service network encompassing 20 high-profile boutique law firms with over 500 lawyers worldwide from 18 major cities across Europe and Asia including Barcelona, Beijing, Belgrade, Bratislava, Bucharest, Budapest, Chisinau, Kuala Lumpur, Madrid, Malta, Paris, Podgorica, Prague, Pristina, Shanghai, Sofia, Tirana, Vienna, Warsaw and Zagreb.

The network is going to function like a global virtual law firm, where each law firm remains legally and financially independent, but will work in parallel to ensure that clients receive a uniform quality of technical legal advice, intimate local knowledge in all represented jurisdictions, and access to the right contacts to service the needs that you and your company require to grow and thrive.

Cathay Associates focuses on corporate and M&A, financing and investment, and private client, tax and immigration services. All 20 members will provide legal services to Cathay Associates’ clients under the brand 柯杰 Cathay Associates to cater to the increasing legal needs coming out of China’s ongoing ‘One Belt One Road’ initiative – an endeavor to rebuild the historical notion of the Silk Road in the context of blossoming outgoing Chinese investment.

This is an exciting step forward for WDM Lex Advisory, the legal services arm of WDM International which has provided award-winning legal services from its Malta base, as we look to maximise the opportunities available for our clients in the global marketplace, with a focus on China and the Middle East.

Dr. Jonathan De Giovanni, Partner at WDM International, shall be taking up the role of Managing Partner for Cathay Associates (Malta).
