WDM International is delighted to announce that Dr. Jonathan De Giovanni, Partner at WDM International and Head of the Private Clients Department at the Firm, has joined the Investment Migration Council (IMC) as a Practitioner Member.

The Geneva-based IMC is a highly prestigious worldwide association that represents professionals from the investment migration and citizenship-by-investment industry. Through interaction with senior stakeholders – including governments, international non-governmental organisations and leading practitioners – the IMC has positioned itself as the leading global body to ensure industry standards, exemplary professional ethics, the promotion of education and public understanding, and to act as a forum to tackle issues faced by clients and governments.

The investment migration industry has grown significantly over the last few years with countries increasingly keen on attracting more foreign direct investment and the attention of high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), with the subsequent boost to the economy that such migration brings.

This is as true in Malta as elsewhere and we have seen the success of the Individual Investor Programme (IIP) – a programme that allows for the grant of Maltese and EU citizenship by a certificate of naturalization to foreign individuals and their families who contribute to the economic development of Malta, through a contributory fee, and an investment package that includes a residential property purchase and the purchase of certain Government stocks and bonds.

With the success of the IIP the Maltese government recently launched the new HNWI Residence and Visa Programme – enabling an applicant to reside, settle or stay indefinitely in Malta with the enjoyment of a Schengen Visa, for a significantly lower qualifying investment and contribution.

Please contact Dr. Jonathan De Giovanni who, as the firm’s accredited agent through Identity Malta, is best placed to provide legal advice and assistance in all matters relating to immigration programmes, and related tax and real estate matters.
